For some reason, I haven’t been to many yard sales this summer. Probably the heat- I currently have my own built in heater that clicks on at random times. I don’t need any outside help, thank you very much. Where was I? Oh, yeah. I went to a few yard sales on Friday, not much luck, but I did snag this guy. Of course I had to do a little topiary makeover.
He was looking a little sparse and weather worn.
Those pictures were taken after an hour of cleaning, leaf by leaf. Yeah, it’s kinda’ like working in your own dirty kitchen- you don’t mind it, but you don’t like the idea of eating from someone else’s dirty kitchen. Or am I the only kitchen hypocrite here? Ahem, moving on….
I hot glued excelsior to the bald spots, then added more ivy- I used variegated for a little more contrast. Plus, it’s what I had already.
All done. The most time consuming part was cleaning.
I love the old rusty fleur de lis on top.
Giving him a little hair ivy weave covered the baldness pretty well- better than a comb-over, don’t you think? I love topiaries and was happy to find this one, even if he did need a makeover.
