Super Easy Microwave Corn on the Cob {Tipsy Tuesday #6}

Are you ready for another Tipsy Tuesday? You may be way ahead of me on this, but I just learned this trick from Richard, who learned it from a co-worker: super easy microwave corn on the cob. No need to remove husks or silk first!

Cut the stalk end of the corn, making sure you cut into the kernels slightly.

01 Easy Microwave Corn on the Cob

Place in microwave and cook for about 4 minutes. Adjust the time if you are cooking more than one ear at a time.

Let sit for 2 minutes. Using a potholder, squeeze the corn from the end where the silk is sticking out. I didn’t get quite enough cut off before I microwaved and had to trim a little bit more from the cut end.

The corn slides right out.

And leaves the silk behind with the husks! I can’t believe how easily the husks and silk came off. There was only one string left on this ear of corn.

A little butter and enjoy!

I see a lot more corn in our future summer meals. Did you already know about this super-easy way to prepare corn on the cob?

  1. So fun. I saved an ear of corn that is not husked yet to try this exact method!

  2. tried this tonight and it works awesome!

  3. Fabulous idea. I have been doing it this way for years, but only cook for 2 1/2 to 3 mins. per ear. I NOT know about the “toothpaste tube” method of corn extraction…will give that a try next time. Sometimes, I undercook a bit more and finish on the grill to get the hot off the grill experience. Great share; thanks, Sheila!
