Sorry I haven’t been around much for a couple of weeks, just haven’t been feeling well and the projects have been on hold. So we’ll ease back into it, ok?
I found this framed picture a few weeks ago at a thrift store. It was $7.98, which is more than I normally pay for anything at a thrift store, but I loved the colors and was pretty sure it was an original watercolor painting, not just a print.
I started to clean it- don’t look at the next picture if you’re preg-o or otherwise easily nauseated.
Yep, that was the first swipe on the glass. The backing was crumbling also. At that point, I decided the whole thing needed to be taken apart and cleaned. And guess what? It was an original watercolor.
The painting itself probably needs to be cleaned, but not something I can do without destroying it.
The frame was darker than I like so I painted and glazed it and replaced the backing.
I’m not sure that I like the lighter frame, though. I’m kind of wishing I had left it as is. Sorry for the glare.
The glass is actually wavy and has some strange divots in it.
What do you think- should I have left the frame dark? Anyone heard of LE Morris? Will my watercolor painting fund our retirement to our dream mountain cabin? 😉
