On Tuesday, a group of bloggers met for a day of picking in Cartersville, GA. My favorite kind of outing.
I didn’t take my camera, so JannYvette, who organized the outing, was kind enough to share her pictures. JannYvette blogs at I Heart Purdy Things. Also along on the adventure was Jill from Weathered Pieces, Betsy from Coastal Colors, Marisa from Marisa’s Pieces, and Marisa’s sister Aissa.
JannYvette took us to one of her favorite places, The Salvage Store. There is so much to see, I didn’t quite know where to look first. Should I run over to the tin ceiling tiles first? No, maybe I should check out that old clawfoot tub. Um, what about those big old wheels? Architectural pieces? Ack- I’m in picker heaven! Most items are sold by the pound, which can mean great finds at even greater prices. Woo-hooooo! If you are in the Cartersville area, stop by and say hi to Jason- he was very kind and patient with us as we dug through all the treasures at his place. You’ll see my picks as I work on them.
We made a few more stops, including the Goodwill and Habitat ReStore. Thank you, JanYvette, for bringing us all together for a fun and exhausting day. I enjoyed getting to know all of you.
A couple of weeks ago, Ramona and I led a paint class at shop. Several ladies had to cancel, so had just three fun ladies in the class. It turned out to be the perfect size class.
You already met Marisa, who painted a unique wooden bowl set. We couldn’t quite figure out what it was supposed to be used for. Any ideas?
Marisa roped her sister Aissa into painting a couple of drawers as a test to see how she’d like the color. I can’t remember if the drawers belong to a desk or a dresser.
Cindy brought quite a conversation piece. We all had fun making up stories about why her grandmother had “sewing supplies” in her ice bucket.
Two fun opportunities to meet new people and explore new places. Have you discovered any new bargain stores this week? Made new friends?
