Welcome to our front porch! Have y’all had a great Memorial Day weekend? It has been so nice to have Richard home for an extra couple of days. (If you remember from our kayak outing, he took Friday off as well.)
The weather has turned decidedly hot, in the 90’s, so I’m staying inside as much as possible! However, I did want to give you a little tour of our front porch. If you can call it that. It’s quite small, so maybe it’s a stoop?
The flag is flying in honor of Memorial Day and all who serve and have served in our armed forces. Thank you to those brave and giving heroes.
I still love the scrolly front door decoration.
The bistro table and chairs just barely fit. The table was one my dad gave me. The chairs were an incredible deal at Kirkland’s. They are normally sold only as a set with a table, but after asking at two Kirkland’s, I found a set with a damaged table and was able to get the chairs for $20 each. Plus, I was able to use a coupon and a gift card! Can’t remember the final total, but it was amazing!
Notice the flag’s reflection in the side light? The diy window frosting is working great!
I forget to water things, so this drought tolerant Lilyturf is perfect for the hanging basket.
The knockout roses to the left of the sidewalk are going crazy.
They are getting a little leggy, need to give them a trim.
I won’t show you the dianthus right next to the roses. They were chock full of blooms a couple of weeks ago, but now they look like they’re almost dead. I love cheddar pinks and hope they survive! So we’ll just focus on the roses instead, ok?
To the right of the sidewalk, I planted Indian Hawthorne and one small holly (I think it’s called soft touch?). Not much happening here since the cheddar pinks stopped blooming. I scavenged the quartz rocks from my dad’s place in the mountains.
Ok, time to go inside and cool off!
