My latest thrift store find is a map-inspired lamp shade with the perfect aqua color to go in our second guest bedroom.
The edge of the shade was discolored, so I used a little silver Rub ’n Buff to brighten it up. I find it easiest to apply Rub ‘n Buff with my fingertip. Just getting started:
I thought I would need to buy a base, but discovered that the lamp in our living room would work just fine.
With the old shade:
With the new:
The silver edge on the shade ties in with the silver detailing on the base.
The bedside table was originally an outdoor table with a small square tile top. I replaced it with a larger round glass top which I sprayed with looking glass spray paint to give it a splotchy antique mirror look.
I know the cord looks bad hanging behind the table. Ignore the cord.
The colors in the lampshade coordinate really well with the quilt and pillows.
Dad gave me the antique oak bed. I love the carving on it. The watercolor painting from a previous treasure hunt lives on the other side of the bed. Still not sure about that frame color.
Sometimes little finds bring a big sense of satisfaction. A $2 lampshade in the perfect colors makes me happy.
Have you done any lamp makeovers with a quick and simple shade trade? Had any thrift store finds in just the right colors?
