Wow, the Haven Conference was amazing. I felt like a star struck groupie catching glimpses of my blogging heroes, and even getting to meet a few of them! I went to the welcoming party on Wednesday night, so overwhelming, so fun.
I got to chat with Ana White and “the Ram.” Both cuties and so talented. No pictures, sigh.
Breakfast was at 7:30 Thursday morning, then time for the opening speeches. I commuted from home, so it was an early morning for me., about an hour drive in Atlanta traffic- ugh!
While waiting for the official start, I grabbed Beckie from Infarrantly Creative for a picture. I really hate that I missed her session on advertising. More about why later.
Beth from Home Stories A to Z started things off.
Rhoda from Southern Hospitality introduced us to the awesome team that pulled the Haven Conference together so perfectly.
Sherry & John from Young House Love gave the opening speech. Funny, inspiring, and so open about their blogging experiences.
I tend to get more introverted in direct proportion to the number of people in a situation, so you can imagine how I was feeling! I was so glad that my friend Betsy from Coastal Colors was at the conference to keep me from hiding somewhere!
We got to meet George from NBC’s George to the Rescue at the 3M booth. He fussed at us a little about wearing protective gear when we’re working on projects.
We saw a demonstration at the Kreg booth on how to use the kreg jig that was included in our swag bags. (I grinned like a- uh, goofy grinner? when I got home Wednesday night and saw the jig in my bag!)
We got a free can of window cleaner at the Fish Foam booth, another product I’ve been wanting to try out.
The first session I went to was DIY Blog Design with Kristi from Creative Kristi. She wasn’t feeling well and ended up having to leave the session early.
The next session was Advanced Painting with Marian from Miss Mustard Seed. She encouraged everyone to wear their paint clothes to the class and then had a contest for whose clothes were the worst. I was in the top (bottom?) three, but didn’t win the awesome Annie Sloan paint brushes. I did get a frog tape tshirt, though.
There were other classes I wanted to attend on Friday, but unfortunately, I ate something at the buffet lunch on Thursday that I shouldn’t have. Insert kicking myself here. I’m gluten-intolerant and really need to learn to be more careful about what I eat. For the next 4 days I had a headache, dizziness, and generally feeling bad.
I was so disappointed that I didn’t get to go on Friday, but I’m so glad that I got to attend my first ever bloggers’ conference. Thank you to all the Haven Mavens for their hard work putting it together and making the Haven Conference a wonderful experience- mwah!
