Have you ever wondered why God chose to come to earth as a baby? In the beginning, He walked with Adam and Eve in the garden- companion, Friend. But we all know what happened there. The devil crashed the party and messed everything up.
So why as a child? He could have shown up fully grown, ready for sacrifice. Yikes, sounds like an ad for a microwave dinner. Hebrews 4:15 says that we have a high priest (Jesus) who can sympathize with our weaknesses, tempted in all things and yet without sin. He came and experienced all that we experience, from conception to death.
Did He understand our trials, our joy, our grief before this whole immaculate-conception/ birth-in-a-manger/carpenter/teacher/sacrifice adventure? After all, He is an all-knowing, all-seeing God. He created us in His image- every cell, every breath. Perhaps He came through this life as He did, not so He could understand, but so that we could know He understands.
