When Richard traveled to South Carolina a couple of weeks ago to tour his future place of employment, I tagged along so that we could spend some time getting familiar with the area. We stayed overnight at The Garden House Bed and Breakfast, a beautifully restored home in Simpsonville.
We didn’t see much of Roy, but Frances made us feel most welcome and answered all our questions about the area.
The guest rooms are on the second floor, and Roy and Frances have their living quarters on the third floor.
The staircase is gorgeous. Ahhh, just look at this molding.
We stayed in the turret room, but I didn’t get a good picture of it- our stuff was spread all over before I thought of it. This room was across the hall from us. Frances was kind enough to allow me to take pictures throughout the house.
The back yard will make you forget you are in the middle of town. I would love to visit when everything is in bloom.
The dogwoods were putting on quite a show.
We had a delicious breakfast the following morning, then spent a few hours checking out apartments. No luck, but we have a somewhat unconventional solution until our house sells. More on that later.
Have you ever stayed in a bed and breakfast? Do you like the personal interaction, or do you prefer the privacy of a hotel?
