I love the colorful graphics on this sweet little French Provincial end table. I started this project, got halfway through it, and realized I didn’t take any “before” pictures. Oops, sorry about that!
You’ll have to use your imagination on the “before.” She had the usual scratched up, dinged up brown stain finish. I sanded away many of the dings and gouges, though some remain as character marks. 😉
I added a postmark graphic to the bottom shelf- appropriate with the postcards going on top….
The postcards were black & white images, so I added some color to them before printing them out. Remember to reverse your images if doing transfers like this. The postcard and postmark images are from Graphics Fairy.
After transferring the images, I added glaze to the entire thing, but wiping most of it off the postcards. To give the illusion of a shadow, I used a small brush to add a bit of glaze along the right and bottom edges of the postcards.
I finished her off with my go-to General Finishes High Performance Top Coat (affiliate link). I just recently found out they now sell a flat finish, so I’m anxious to give that a try.
This isn’t the first time I’ve used these postcards. This French Country end table with drawers got the treatment, but with black & white images. I also decoupaged postcard graphics inside the drawers. Be sure to click on over to see the details.
I usually name my furniture pieces, but somehow managed to forget to name this one. Any suggestions for this well-traveled lady? By the way, she is for sale on my facebook page. 🙂
