I’m back with my finished frame from this post. I was disappointed with how shiny the satin finish was. Rather than make a trip to HD, I decided to just brush on another light coat of chalk paint. This gave me the matte finish I was looking for.
And with my half-hearted attempt at a fall mantel:
I may just take the orange and gold garland off and keep it simple. I prefer cooler colors such as the blue and white of the vase. This fireplace is in our keeping room, just off the kitchen and breakfast area. The walls are the orignal builder color, will eventually be painted to a more taupe-ish color.
