I know, I know, still no pictures of the whole house. One reason for the holdup is that I’m doing little organization projects as I unpack. As a result, much of the house is still a disaster. Will it ever end?!
One of the things I really like about our kitchen is that it has lots of drawers. With plenty of room, I tucked away my most used spices in the large drawer next to the stove. I first transferred them to small jars found at a thrift store. Of course, the labels weren’t correct, so I tackled DIY spice jar labels.
I already had the supplies on hand: adhesive backed kraft paper and 1.5” hole punch.
I drew 1.5” circles, then added text within the circles. After printing them out, I used the “Punch All Over the Page” from Martha Stewart. I bought it a couple of years ago at Michael’s. Of course, you could cut them out by hand, but this is much quicker.
Center label in the opening of the bottom piece of the punch. Hold in place while attaching the top part of the punch. It’s magnetic, so it’ll just snap into place. Turn right side up and press to punch.
To ensure the labels are facing correctly, screw the lids onto the jars before attaching the labels. Don’t ask me how I know.
Spices in alphabetical order- ahhh, that soothes my soul. Oh, I found the spice drawer organizer strips (affiliate link) on Amazon- they can be trimmed and are great for keeping the jars from wandering when I open the drawer. Six to a package- I have three left over.
What are your favorite spices? Have you ever bought spice jar sets and had to diy your spice jar labels?
I promise, I’ll show you pics of the kitchen next time. After I clean off the countertops….
