I seem to be on another theme for projects for my booth. The decorative key board made from old flooring sold the same day, so I decided to attach rooster hooks to vintage boards as well. The latest projects involve using beadboard and shutter slats for decorative backgrounds.
The beadboard background is a simple project- paint and distress a piece of beadboard cut to the correct size, then glue the decorative object to the beadboard. I used E6000 to attach the ceramic cross to this piece. The cross was painted and glazed as well.
To use the window shutter slats as a decorative background, I put several side by side to determine how many I needed for the smaller cross.
After sanding away the loose paint, there was no paint left on the slats. Sooo, after cutting them to length, I painted them, along with two of the leftover scraps.
The three pieces were butted up together, then the two leftovers were glued to the back to hold everything together. I used E6000 for this step as well.
A bit of distressing and I had another decorative background ready to attach the smaller cross.
I have a few more things to attach to some sort of background. Do you have any suggestions for unusual decorative backgrounds?
