A Purplicious Christmas Foyer

Ack! I don’t know how it has happened- I haven’t even started shopping for Christmas gifts. And I only realized it TODAY! I usually have at least a few things bought throughout the year. Not this time. Tell me I’m not alone!

I have done a wee bit more decorating, though- we now have a purplicious Christmas foyer.

I found the two purple votives at Michael’s last year. I removed one of the candles and popped in the cute little snowy tree, then tucked a scrap of burlap around the base. Everything seems to look fancier under a cloche, don’t you think?

I removed one of the purple poinsettias from the front door wreath, and he ended up here. Not sure why I think he’s a he, but there ya go. My music page candles get a lot of mileage (literally) around our home.

The JOY banner I made earlier is hanging on the framed metal scrolly things. A much needed reminder for me. We recently found out an old college friend had died earlier this year. We only see him about once a year, and were expecting him to come sometime during the Christmas season. Mutual friends called to let us know that they had found out through the school newsletter, but none of us know what happened. We don’t know any of his family, so don’t know who to ask. It’s very tough realizing he had died months earlier and we had no idea. But I know Eric is experiencing great joy in the presence of Jesus- what a way to celebrate Christmas! We miss you, Eric.

Anyway, there is a little sadness mixed in with the Christmas cheer this year. I always miss my mom a little more this time of year, too. I’m sure that most of you have experienced loss at some time as well, and so please know that I am thinking of you and praying for you during this season. May you experience joy in the good news of a Savior born just for you.

I hope this wasn’t too much of a downer. I really didn’t intend to go there, but sometimes spills just happen. I love you guys- thanks for hanging out with me. See you next week?

Doodles,
