Painted French End Table- Night Stand

Hellooo! I have some skeery news today.  I just made a big leap of faith and committed to renting a booth at a local shop! Yikes! What have I done?! I blame it all on Kathy from Creative Home Expressions. :) I’ll be moving stuff wonderful treasures into my space on Saturday. One piece that I haven’t shown you yet is this painted French end table. Or night stand.

Her name is Genevieve. A little table with a big name, so we’ll call her Geni for short. Geni came home with me a little worse for wear, but not too bad.

Because the curvy edge of the veneer had a missing piece, I just pulled the rest of the strip off. You can see that I had already started lightly sanding before I remembered to take a picture.

After giving Geni a good wipe down, I quickly covered her with Rust-Oleum spray primer. It’s the best, seriously. The primer ensured that the veneer-less area would accept the paint the same way as the rest of the table.

General Finishes milk paint in Snow White, brown glaze to highlight her best features, and two or three coats of clear varnish give Geni a whole new outlook on life.

Remember Francesca’s decoupage postcard drawers? Geni got a similar treatment with music pages.

No makeover is complete without a little updated bling. Rust-Oleum gray primer followed by a dry brush of the same white milk paint on Geni’s drawer pull did the trick.

You can see a glimpse of the Paris print makeover  on the wall. The lamp shade will be getting a tiny makeover soon.

Genevieve looks rather sassy, now, oui?

  3. LOL! : ) You’ll be so happy you took the plunge, Sheila! I’d been wanting a booth almost since the day we moved to Ohio {1 1/2 years ago} and knew I had to grab this opportunity when it came up. Good thing I did ~ they just rented out all the booths last week! I’ve been making progress slowly in my booth’s decorating, as money allows, so take your time setting it up the way you want. I can’t wait to see it!

  4. Good for you, Sheila! Let me know where the shop is (or name) and I will come visit! Best of luck to you!

Awwww, Sheila, J’aime Genevieve beaucoup! Elle est belle! and you are too cool! Good for you. Taking a plunge like this keeps one from getting stale and dull. Wish I could come and see, but I do hope you will post pictures of your booth when all is setup. We have a very few like this here, but there is so much stuff ; treasures, crammed in each booth you can’t see the forest for the trees! Your pieces will stand out! But what EVER are you going to do to that sweet little lampshade??????????? sniff! Good job girl friend! Much success to you!

  8. Oh la la I love it Sheila. Love the drawers and that lamp is just perfect! Awesome job.
