Hello, fellow Doodlers! Richard and I visited friends in NC this weekend, and I came home with a few bargains. My friend Sallie took me on a whirlwind tour of 11 thrift and consignments stores on Saturday! One find was a French country mirror for the powder room.
You may remember from my previous powder room tour that I was on the lookout for a replacement mirror. This wasn’t exactly what I had in mind, but the price was ok, and the style is closer to what I was searching for.
Here is the original:
Subtle differences. The new mirror is a little wider and has a few more details.
I highlighted the details with silver Rub n Buff.
I originally thought I wanted a black framed mirror in here, but the white lightens the room up quite a lot, so I’ll live with it awhile before deciding if I want to paint it.
What do you think? Leave white, or paint black to tie in with the other black accents in the room?
Doodles,

Sheila, you found a lovely mirror! The Rub n Buff was a perfect highlight for the details! I love your new addition to the powder room!

Love the silver accent you rubbed on. I like it white as it brightens it up & gives that French country look that you are known for!
Love the silver accent, I think black would be too dark because (in the photo) your walls look pretty dark. I like it as is

I like it white and the added Rub n Buff really gives it the wow feature.

I LOVE rub n’ buff. I used a tube of the gold version on plaster medallions to give them more depth and it really works wonders. Great job.
What a gorgeous mirror. I love the rub & buff accents.
Have a very Happy Valentine’s week!
I love it! And I say keep it white and bright.
Also, a whirlwind of 11 consignments and thrift shops sounds like my kind of day!

I completely disagree with the other comments, which is kind of par (for the course) for me. I think black matte finish with silver rub and buff on the accents . Every room needs a touch of black, its dressy and it help draw the eye. Can’t see much of the rest of the room, but reflected in the mirror, I do see a black metal piece on the wall.
