I may have gotten carried away this time. Just a tad. I’ve been admiring those velvet pumpkins all over blogland, and at TJ Maxx. Haven’t bought any, though, or made any. BUT, I did figure out how to make velvety acorns. No sewing, no stuffing. The easy way, my kind of project, in case you haven’t figured that out yet.
Supplies for Velvety Acorns:
- Acorn caps
- Pompoms in fall colors
- Glue gun and glue
Take notes here- this may get tricky. Add a bit of glue in the acorn caps. Plop a pompom in there. Repeat 100 times, because that’s how many pompoms are in the bag. Then, go back to Michael’s and buy another bag, just because.
Some of the larger caps were too deep for the pompoms, so I glued scrap bits of quilt batting into the cap before adding the pompom.
I’m kind of loving them! Cute like a puppy, but more well- behaved.
For another easy acorn project, go check out the colorful acorns at Freddy & Petunia. She does some amazing furniture transformations, too, so wander around while you’re there, and tell Catherine I sent ya!
Well, now you know my easy version of how to make velvety acorns. If you give them a try, be warned, they’re a little addictive. If I can part with them, these cute little guys will be for sale at the market this coming weekend. If you live in the Woodstock, GA area, come on out and say hi!

Ha, I keep forgetting you’re not only in a different time zone, you’re in a different season! It threw me a little when I read that your kids were on spring break!

What a great twist I mine!
And, btw–like you making a trip back to Michael’s, I made 4 trips back to that house to get more acorns! I got carried away too!

Wanted you to know I featured your adorable acorns on my Saturday favorites-have a great weekend! Claire
These are darling! I’ve been having a crush on acorns this fall and I may have to try yours.
I love that you figured out how to make these. I’ve been seeing them all over too, but they’re more than I’m willing to spend for seasonal decorations. This seems so easy and the results look great.
